Sonnemann Toon Architects design development: GOSH Barclay House concluded!

Barclay House on Queen Square has been refurbished and reconfigured on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital to provide contemporary office and administrative space. Working closely with Collins Construction, Sonnemann Toon Architects carried out extensive design development and user consultation to tailor the project to the needs of the client, whilst responding to the context and constraints of the existing historic building fabric as the proposals were progressed in more detail.

The project, conducted in two phases over 9 months, delivers over 1800sqm of new accommodation, including executive office suites, meeting rooms, board rooms, main reception area and supporting staff spaces. During the extensive works on site, an original mosaic floor dating back to circa 1910 was uncovered. A specialist from the London School of Mosaic was appointed to carefully restore the damaged portions of the mosaic, preserving this beautiful part of the original building fabric for future generations.
