Sonnemann Toon Architects Visit Design Museum

Sonnemann Toon paid a visit to the new Design Museum premises. The centrepiece of the renovated design is a big, theatrical atrium, ringed by walkways that lead to the museum’s facilities and displays movement of visitors, however the rest of the experience felt a bit underwhelming. There seems to be a lot of empty unused space, the incorporated elements of the old building are slightly overlooked and all visitors are cramped into 2 gallery corners.

Perhaps few displays within the atrium could liven it up?

Designer Maker User exhibition itself was fun and featured various items of twentieth and twenty-first century design viewed through the angles of the designer, manufacturer and general user. Some of these were a trip down the memory lane!
