After 30 years of occupation by the same family, this mansion flat appeared dated and gloomy. The client tasked Sonnemann Toon with refurbishing it to a high standard while restoring a ‘mansion flat’ feel. The scheme was undertaken within firm budget and programme parameters to suit client’s marketing programme and required strict compliance with the rules set by a present and involved landlord. 

A radical strip-out revealed the good bones of the victorian building - high ceilings, large windows and generous room sizes. Improvements to the existing fabric aim to extend the life of the flat; new finishes are simple and neutral, yet robust. A few thoughtfully chosen features - ‘rooflight effect’ light, extra high glazed doors, and bespoke joinery add character and highlight unique quality of the flat.
